Kohrinbo is one of the largest shopping and business districts on the west coast of Japan. It features a main street with large shopping malls including the long-established local department stores “Kohrinbo Daiwa” and “Kohrinbo Atrio,” where many fashion brands’ stores are located, and also “KOHRINBO109,” which is popular with the younger generation. Well-known overseas brands also have a presence here and the clean and sophisticated image of the street is reminiscent of the streets of Ginza or Aoyama in Tokyo. The area is also home to a number of offices in addition to its shops, so expect to see a lot of men in suits and girls in uniforms walking around. In the winter, the “Tree Fantasy in Kohrinbo” event takes place and illuminations on over 30 Japanese zelkova trees along Route 157 create a romantic atmosphere. This is Kanazawa’s central point where a large number of shoppers visit from both within and outside the prefecture.
