The remains of the house of Terashima Kurando, a middle-rank Samurai. He was a key person during the reformation of the Kaga domain. The house is designated as Kanazawa’s cultural property and is open to the public. The calligraphic works and antiques that Kurato collected are on display. Have a stroll around the Karesansui (Japanese rock garden or “dry landscape” garden) to enjoy Doudan Tsutsuji (enkianthus perulatus) in spring and maple leaves changing to red and yellow in the autumn.

How to get to the residence of Terashima Kurando from Kanazawa Station

Take a bus towards Kanazawa-gakuin University from stop 3 at Kanazawa Station East Gate Bus Terminal and get off at Hashiba-cho. It takes approx. 10 mins and the single fare is 200 yen. The Kanazawa Loop Bus also takes you to the residence of Terashima Kurando. Take the Right Loop (RL) route from stop 7 and get off at Hashiba-cho (Kinjoro-mae). A single fare is 200 yen and the one-day bus pass is valid on these lines.
