Ishikawa prefecture records Japan’s highest annual ice cream consumption. On 3rd July, ‘Soft Cream Batake & Chill Out,’ a much-talked-about speciality ice cream shop, opened in the middle of Kanazawa’s Tate-machi shopping district. The shop offers 40 different types of soft cream that use local vegetables and fruit, for example, a soft cream using plenty of blueberries or one with sweet potatoes. The shop opened a branch in Nonoichi, Kanazawa’s neighboring city, in April 2015. It was an instant success with a long line of ice cream lovers waiting for 90 minutes! It is often picked up by the media as well. This time, they have opened in the town of Kanazawa, meaning the chain is going to gain further popularity among people.
